Absolutely didn't see this watching it live but Matthews slashed Grieg in the back of the knee right before he gets the puck and scores on this. Somehow not the most egregious this about the play.

sorry to the SNES boys for being the source of the Avs' desire for retribution. Leafs had no business winning that game. the Rangers funkn blow though

The Habs scored three goals in four minutes to tie the game against the Avs in the third

Don’t like it

They lost in the shootout, but still

I’d rather see the Rags make it over the Habs. But if the Habs miss, I think they moved up in the lottery. So there’s no winning.

The Puck Soup doods were talking on Thursday about how it must feel to be the Sabres or Wangs these days to have a) the SNES take the step that they were all poised to take for two or three years now, and b) to have the Habs leapfrog them this season and be neck and neck for a playoff spot this late in a season. They spent most of the time talking about the Sabres and how broken that franchise is, but ya, that division is all of a sudden that much more of a roadblock.

Montreal is doing what CLB was doing 10 games ago - coming back in every game. It’s going to bite them when regression happens, I think (hope)

The Athletic hockey podcast has had numerous conversations on "How would you rank these teams in the Atlantic" and I try to tune those out. It would definitely sting if Montreal made it this year, mostly because I hate them / their fans, but also in the sense of the Wings being lapped, but a rebuild doesn't always follow an upward trajectory. The Wings missed the playoffs last year by a tiebreaker -- how much would the narrative have changed if the Flyers won their game and the Wings had made it last year? Maybe the Habs make it this year but take a step back next year, who knows.

The last month has been profoundly frustrating, in large part because they've had some games that they deserved to win (the Stadium Series game, the SNES game when Ullmark played out of his mind) and I think winning those would've changed the mood in the room. It's hard not to think of Copp's absence with regard to the no-shows in the third period that killed them a few times. Fans (and reportedly the players) are mad at Yzerman for not adding at the deadline, but aside from getting another defensive body like Soucy for a mid-rounder, I don't think it made sense to deal major assets (first, better prospects) for someone like Laughton. I don't know what the equivalent price for Carlo would've been -- a first and Shai Buium? -- but I guess they were in on him and that makes sense.

Anyway, the offseason will be key. I assume ASP, Cossa, and maybe Danielson will be up next year. Ideally they buy out Tarasenko and Holl, who are worthless, and add someone like Ehlers or Marner. But I don't see the latter happening.

Allen Walsh insists that the NHL will be expanding to 34 teams with Houston and Atlanta joining.

Can't wait to see where the Atlanta franchise moves in seven to eight years.

Isles fans are enraged about this but it seems like a reasonable call? I know the 50/50 nature of goalie interference calls is frustrating and it's not always possible to tell but he does bump the goalie within 1 second of the puck going in.

he's at least an upgrade on what we had on the 2nd pair, I would take any of Minten, Holmberg, Kampf at 3C over Laughton, I know that mixes up the actual trades made whatever. HF sleuths think Berube is pissed that the FO didn't get Schenn for him. and yeah like I'd rather add Cowan + to what they gave up for Laughton to get B Schenn instead.

I get the outrage and it probably should’ve been a goal. But goalie is bumped a bit and he’s in the crease. Everyone saying he had time to reset I’m not so sure? Either way the clock he had less than half a second so who’s to say?

Anyways fuck the islanders I don’t want to see them in the playoffs anyways they are boring as shit.
