On the Shreds:
Adding Skjei would've been a bigger help if they hadn't also moved out McDonagh. Fabbro was out today, but Del Giezo, Lauzon, Schenn, and Carrier are a steep drop-off from the top guys. A really solid #3 would help them a lot.
Stamkos is still lethal on the PP but I barely heard his name outside of it. The top line (O'Reilly, Forsberg, and Marchessault) is consistently dangerous, but past that, they really need a 2C. Tommy Novak and Colton Scissons are 3Cs at best. They won't cut it. Stamkos can't play center at even strength anymore.
Nyquist had a great rush on the PK but he didn't do much at even strength. Not being on O'Reilly's line anymore is a killer for him. I think he's back down to 50 points this year.
Their PP is excellent and the Wings were lucky not to take many penalties (although a 1:30+ five on three was more than enough) but it's not at the level of the Rags, who know each other telepathically.
Anyway, they'll right the ship and be a playoff team, but it's pretty clear that they're not going to be the best team in the Western Conference.

i watched 2 periods of that preds/oilers game and really didn't see stamkos do much of anything. their top line is working but i don't think novak is viable as a 2C
