Or maybe he signs in Carolina after having a couple months to think about it??

Edit: re: Marner

I suspect there will be a decent difference between what Chicago can/will offer (13 mill a year?) and what Carolina would offer. He’d have a chance to win there but Aho’s their most expensive contract at 9.75 per and I have a hard time seeing Dundon getting to 11 or 12, let alone 13.

I don’t know if Marner’s the type of forward who’d work best with Bedard anyway — feels like Rantanen’s size would have been a better fit — but they have a stupid amount of cap space.

If they don't sign Marner, who is Toronto going to pay the 13 million to? There's some decent UFAs but no superstars now that Rantanen is gone.

Just for NA I'm willing to accept a SNES OT loss tonight since it doesn't super hurt their playoff chances.

Pretty excited to see Zetterlund play - probably just the usual twitter hype thing washing my brain but seems like that was a sneakily good pickup. A guy thicc strong boy who can skate, produces at 5v5 and has a great shot.

Would mostly really like to see Ullmark have a good game. He's been super mid lately but at least making enough saves to keep within striking distance.

I have always thought Marner would re-sign for something that would make the wannabe ex GTHL stars at HFLeafs lose their minds, 13.5 or something that reflects his leverage, but the Rantanen stuff kind of blows that valuation out of the water? I don't really know what to expect now. In any case it feels like they have made this situation even more toxic and an even worse PR disaster for a guy (MM) who has always been his own PR disaster. I think a player more independent of family and close circle influence would just tell his agent to make a deal now to get this distraction out of the way. But I also wonder whether he won't want to be back if/when they lose in the 1st or 2nd round because he's aware of how much worse it would get. and maybe he's sick of playing 27 mins in games vs SJ in early March.

I’m anticipating like a 5-1 SNES win in which the Red Wings score first and then shit the bed. This feels like a must-win for Detroit. The Wings’ PP hasn’t done anything lately (aside from give up two SHG vs. Washington) and it’ll probably depend on whether the SNES take penalties and Detroit regains their confidence with the extra advantage.

I have no clue who will be in net for Detroit. Do they put Mrazek in? Neither Talbot nor Lyon has made the necessary saves lately.

Knies I guess? but yeah I don't see why they wouldn't just pay their best player what he wants, given that they will spend the 1-2m difference between the team-friendly and player-friendly cap hit on Kampf/Reaves types

If Toronto doesn’t make it to at least the conference finals, I think he leaves. Regardless of merit, it’s hard not to see him getting blamed for the results and “it’s time to move on” being the sentiment from both sides.

Seems low. What other PED suspensions have there been?

I suspect that there's an automatic number for it as agreed upon in the CBA. The last player who got suspended for PEDs was Nate Schmidt in 2018, back when he was on Vegas. He presumably bought the wrong supplement from Alex Jones.
