If it happens without retention, SNES are sending out 8.8M in salary and bringing in 7.1M so they get some space, too. Assuming they are hoping to do something else, too?
Otherwise this feels like a move you should make in the offseason. Norris is loved by teammates and seems like a great guy + they desperately need more scoring and it seems like they just moved scoring around in this deal (although Norris is a PP offence guy and Cozens produces a lot more 5v5, where I think Ottawa is dead last in the NHL this year?

Also, I would have much rather they traded for Paterka. Cozens reclamation project is a gamble

I mean if this was the other option then I guess I'm happy
Re: The Official 2024-2025 NHL Season: Trade Deadline a Real War This Year
yeah Paterka is another guy the Sabres should trade to the Leafs
Re: The Official 2024-2025 NHL Season: Trade Deadline a Real War This Year
maybe Ottawa is just throwing their weight behind the Canadian patriotism project by exchanging one of their 8x8 Americans for an 8x8 Canadian on an American team. Sanderson and Brady to follow [e4]?

I was just reminded that previous young players getting traded out of Buffalo recently all ended up winning the cup. Deal outlook has improved! (it's still not official)

I feel like I'm always instantly rationalizing every move, it's great to cope.

I don't like this deal as far as messing up chemistry to make the playoffs this year. Could pay off over the long term though?

SNES still need another top 6 winger option imo

SNES somehow getting a 2nd round pick out of the trade is kinda tidy TBH

A Buffalo 2nd rounder is basically a 1st rounder
(is the kind of thing a Habs fan would say)

Rantanen back to the Central Division, just like the Avs drew it up

It is my unbiased opinion that teams in states without income tax should have lower salary caps.

Gotta think Mikko’s leaving quite a bit of money on the table

Athletic headliner NEEDS to specifyTRADE: Jets acquire Schenn
The Jets are acquiring Luke Schenn from the Penguins in exchange for a second-round draft pick and a fourth-round pick.
