went to a game for the first time in years - 4-3 OT win v NYI where McDavid scored points 996-999

had great seats so was my first time seeing McDavid and Leon up close, unreal stuff

conversely, it was also my first time seeing Edmonton's defence up close, also unreal stuff

I think against the PNES, the announcers were questioning whether a Wing deserved a hooking call for lifting an opponent's stick from underneath (maybe a foot down from the hands) so he couldn't shoot a puck. What a world

it is crazy how little urgency the oilers play with. little floater perimeter passes, one good scoring chance that doesn't go in, and then back the other way for a low danger shot that turns into a goal because skinner can't move laterally or pickard isn't set

I think they can get it going but the goaltending has been pretty disastrous, they've had poor finishing luck, and nobody cares about winning 50/50 pucks except Connor, Leon, Arvidsson and Podkolzin

Ovie out week to week with a leg injury, just as it was becoming pretty certain that he'd break the record this year.

Great given how the SNES season is going they should dominate as they play with a ton of urgency so all in all this sounds like the game tonight will be awesome, something like:
