I don't think it'll be the Wings, although they were supposedly interested before the win streak. It would have to be Danielson or Kasper + Copp or Compher for the money to work out.

My guess is Calgary

SNES and Caps at 0-0 halfway through the third. Gotta get a point here.

Ok, they came on by the end of the 3rd. Pretty good game - just realized that 2 points puts them ahead of Boston tho so, you know, get the extra point?

Man, Ovechkin absolutely ripped that despite the puck bobbling on him. Guy might be good at scoring goals.

Pretty great effort by les SNES playing with 3 rookie D and a rookie G. And pretty entertaining for a 0-0 game.

This morning I learned that Alex Lafrerriere [sic] of the Kings has more points this year than Alexis Lafreniere

I thought he'd turned the page though!

It's gonna be funny if next year Kakko has more points in Seattle than Laf does in NY

For years anyone who wasn't a former Jets coaching staff member was yelling to give more ice and 1st unit PP time to analytical darling Nik Ehlers. He'd topped out at 13 PP points in his career; last year he had a measly 7 PP assists playing on the 2nd unit, and the JERTS overall pp % finished 22nd in the league, the culmination of three straight seasons of declining effectiveness.

This season, he's playing top unit minutes, has already outpaced his career best (15 PP points in 37 games), and the JERTS are rocking a league-best 32.5%. Seems like sometimes the NUMBERS BOYS are on to something and are right.

Strong agree. Also the Bruins and BlueJackets. And Red Wings, Flyers, and Rangers.

Ok, just for you: I hope the two wildcard slots are SNES and Wings. So I guess they can win too.

... is something no one has ever said out loud until this week?

I get why HE would want to sign in EDM but feels kinda weird from the team's perspective? Their PP is already good and he was absolutely atrocious defensively when he last played. They have no trouble scoring goals. What exactly is he helping them with?

I think short version is Nurse plays better with a puck moving right shot DMan so I'm guessing they wanna see if he can fit on the 2nd pair

worst case scenario he's dogshit and nothing comes of it, best case scenario he slots in with Nurse on the 2nd pair

likely scenario he's "meh" and just bumps a couple guys down the pecking order and is the 6/7 guy going into the playoffs

presumably they're confident they have Kane's $5M available for a trade deadline addition so Colonel Klinkberg gets a 2 month audition

also Edmonton is addicted to reclamation projects

typically they're being released from prison, back from a suspension or fresh out of rehab so it's a bit odd to get a guy recovering from a boring old injury

Earlier this week LeBrun wrote that thee Goil were looking at adding two defensemen -- one a second-pair guy with some offense, the other a defensive defenseman for the third pair. The fact that so many teams were in on Klingberg despite him being Klingberg says a lot about the state of the market,* and Fleetwood's right about where he'd (ideally) slot.

*It's hard to imagine many teams in the East deciding they're out before the deadline at the current rate. Before the Habs and the Beej were in the mix, Provorov and Savard were obvious names to consider, but maybe they don't move now.
