3 x-ing his season total aside, an actual win in Carolina. This is a guaranteed 4-1 loss almost every time.

The return is lighter than I expected for Fowler, surprised by the destination, too. But it sounds like Leddy is out long term. The Blues announced Saturday that they are sending defensive prospect Jeremie Biakabutuka and a second-round pick in 2027 to the Ducks, and receiving Fowler and a fourth-round draft pick in 2027.
I was surprised Zellweger was healthy scratched for the Ducks recently, he's been playing well. This clears up the post-Trouba numbers game.

Good lord it's gonna be tough tho. 8 teams within 6pts of each other for the two WC spots.
I don't think PHI or NYI are problems but everyone else (and maybe BUF can climb up too)(LOL no)

Rangers seem like the most obvious candidate to push themselves back into the picture. I genuinely don’t get how they’re struggling so much. They looked deadly against the Wings early in the season. I don’t get it!sutterfamily wrote: ↑Sun Dec 15, 2024 8:39 am Good lord it's gonna be tough tho. 8 teams within 6pts of each other for the two WC spots.

I’m pretty shocked the Wings are only four points back. Their next three games are Philly (at home), Montreal home at home. The SNES have a nine-game (!) road trip coming up, curious where the division is at when 2025 starts.

Yeah, nine gamers aren't ideal. World Juniors are in Ottawa. So it's 4 games then xmas break then 5 games but check out the teams, pretty rough there too

I'll be honest: the Wings getting Ottawa on the ninth game of a road trip is a best-case scenario.
I looked at Calgary's record because I remembered that they started off hot and have since cooled off, and their home record remains really solid (11-4-1). Who knows with them. Seattle is a roll of the dice, just like Detroit -- no consistency to their performances.

No doubt! I think that's a likely L (although, also no offense tho I'm sure you "get it", it's probably one of the two most winnable games on the trip). Hopefully they can manage to keep the whole thing from being a disaster. I think 3-5-1 or 3-4-2 would actually be a pretty good result (sadly)I'll be honest: the Wings getting Ottawa on the ninth game of a road trip is a best-case scenario.
I also agree Calgary's not a pushover I'm just comparing it to the rest of the games!

Re: The Official 2024-2025 NHL Season: Let’s Get It Started, in Here
Ok, maybe I can do some predictions!
SEA tomorrow: feels like an L, dunno why? First game on PST + coming off two big wins on the weekend I guess. Joey Daccord revenge game? (lol they protected Gustavsson over him). Luckily I will be asleep for it!
CGY: Basing this on basically nothing I think the SNES style matches up well (hard, fast, defensive) and they manage to win this with a couple PP goals
VAN: no, horrible matchup
EDM: fuck no, even worse matchup
WPG: Maybe OT loss? Similar styles, will depend on goaltending. They outplayed them last year and lost in OT based on this exact reason.
----- x-mas break (6 days) ---
MIN: Probable L. Haven't watched them but they look good! Not sure on matchup.
DAL: W, they've done ok in Dallas recently for some reason.
STL: W, this is just a random guess.
DET: OT loss would be fucking awesome by this point, regulation L probable.
----------------------------------
The 9-gamer is definitely rough but that 6 day break in the middle kind of offsets it, at least a little bit.
TBH they need to be better on the road to really have a chance to make the playoffs so this'll be a good barometer and either a chance for them to:
1. come together or;
2. completely destroy the season.
