I guess I papered over the part about the EDM goalies being rough but that kinda thing doesn't mess with the SNES mojo - all goalies get to start again and be great for one night at least.

Stu is starting tonight, he's been very solid when he's set but apparently he is worst in the league by a mile when you get him moving and I 100% believe it. I can't think of ever seeing a goalie who has worse lateral movement and recovers more slowly than Skindaddy. He looks ~slightly~ better this season but it's still awful.

sutterfamily how has Perron looked? I know he has zero points on the year. Curious if he's taking bad penalties in the third.

Sean Shapiro wrote a piece today about how the Wings' locker room is absurdly quiet this year, having lost both Perron and Walman, and Wings BlueSky's take seems to be "They miss him for real but also shouldn't have signed him to that contract." But it's not like Tarasenko's scoring much, either.

I meannnnn... kinda hard to judge. He only played 6 games cause his newborn daughter had a health issue. I'm not gonna judge too harshly based on how awful that must be but he's been pretty useless in the six (now 7) games. Zero penalties at least!

He did get robbed of a nice assist on that Stutzle "penalty" last game.

That game was not good. The 4th goal was a back breaker where there was some suspect team D with some guy... uh, Connor McDavid? And then Sanderson fell asleep and forgot to cover... [checks notes]... Leon Draisaitl? Are those two good or something?

Zero penalties? His heart must not be in it. (I know about his daughter, that's gotta be brutal.)

Perron was really good at doing the dirty work on the PP, retrieving puck along the boards, maintaining possession despite defensive pressure. He tended to have issues at even strength.

This would be nice! PP (despite being 6th in the league somehow... I think that one LA game where they scored 4 PP goals is pulling a lot of weight) has a lot of cycles with like zero pressure. He played with Pinto and Amadio on the third line last night, they were nearly invisible except when Amadio made a great solo play to split the D at the blue line but then hit the post.

ok question, can you call a major so you get to review the play, and then call a minor penalty instead? I guess I don't know if there is an available penalty for checking to the head - does it have to be 5 and a game or nothing? I don't know if I agree with @LeafsPapi_ that Whitecloud jumped into that hit so idk if it deserves 5 and a game but it's clearly at least a penalty right?

Leafs ended up shorthanded out of the post-hit fighting which I'm kind of alright with if it's a clean hit where it's followed by someone jumping the hitter, and the Leafs PK is locked in anyway so no sweat really. have you guys watched the Grebenkyin highlights from last night yet? this guy wears his skates like Nik Antropov all tongue and laces visible from the upper deck but he hits like Tom Wilson

From that angle it looks like the primary point of contact is head + with an elbow/forearm not shoulder? I would give that a 5 and game, especially if the guy getting hit leaves the game?

Blue Jackets fans on The Athletic are insisting they could still make the playoffs and
Most people don’t even know the CBJ are even in the NHL let alone have a stable of terrific young players with more on the way. We should all save our thumbs and just let the team do the commenting. Bottom line is within two years they’ll be a top five team in the league. Count on it.
