Prospect Eligibility Status
-Signed skaters that have played fewer than 120 regular season games may be placed in the minors and removed from your Yahoo roster, with their salary not counting toward your cap. The limit for signed goaltenders is 60 regular season games.
-Signed skaters who have played 120 or more regular season games but have been assigned to the minors by their real NHL club may also be placed here. This is an addendum known as the Kadri Klause. They must be called back up within 7 days of playing an NHL game.
In addition, during the CFL regular season, after a player plays his 120th regular season game he must be called up or released. If the player has played his 120th NHL game, is playing for his real-life NHL team, and is not on your Yahoo roster, he may be subject to a claim from another CFL GM immediately upon completion of the 120th game.

thanks Ca$hin
that does seem pretty clear we're supposed to cut loose after 120 and i will relinquish my frederic signing accordingly, but i would propose that we change the working of the rule to make it more explicit that they become UFAs at that point, not eligible for ELC anymore (by anyone)

Re: CFL 2024-2025 Discussion
or better yet, what NA said in the other thread (ELC by anyone after 120, becomes UFA after 140)
Re: CFL 2024-2025 Discussion
so make that $61 left for 8 spots
Re: CFL 2024-2025 Discussion
I've got 9 guys signed for 82 bucks = 138 bux to spend in FA
+ 3 prospects under 120gp who are all signed
+ 3 prospects under 120gp who are all signed

I believe I was allowed to do this last year with Patrick Kane.captain wrote: ↑Tue Oct 01, 2024 6:42 pm I don't think we actually have a rule about that but it might be worth a chat/vote? I can't really recall any instances of us doing that before and search/history is gone.
If you spent to the cap you would have to make some tough decisions/trades to become cap compliant when the player does return. If we were to implement leniency around that we would need to put up some rules around it, I would want it to be applied consistently.
Players like Evander Kane (UFA), Drew Doughty and probably others would be impacted this year.
Re: CFL 2024-2025 Discussion
I have 14 players signed at $140. So I should have $80 in cap space.
Re: CFL 2024-2025 Discussion
Circumstances were a bit different given he wasn't actually signed by a club but yeah, good reminderAdam wrote: ↑Thu Oct 03, 2024 5:34 pmI believe I was allowed to do this last year with Patrick Kane.captain wrote: ↑Tue Oct 01, 2024 6:42 pm I don't think we actually have a rule about that but it might be worth a chat/vote? Asking for a friend: what is our GP limit to draft a player who is undrafted, unsigned and playing in the NHL

Re: CFL 2024-2025 Discussion
120/60 makes sense here
Re: CFL 2024-2025 Discussion
Wasn't it 35 GP in previous years? I seem to remember this coming up regarding Gavrikov a few years back.
Re: CFL 2024-2025 Discussion
In the past I believe we had set it at 50/25 GP to match the threshold you had to sign a prospect within - ultimately we bumped up the numbers to 120/60 and never re-evaluated the draft number and there's nothing in the rules about it at all anymore?
Re: CFL 2024-2025 Discussion
For the record I think it should match this and NOT because I want to draft a guy right now

Re: CFL 2024-2025 Discussion
Eh as much as I’d like two fewer numbers to remember, 50/25 makes sense. It makes sense to avoid the chance of a player having a surprise breakout season and still being entry draft eligible.
Re: CFL 2024-2025 Discussion
I think that is REASONABLE and I will not be drafting Dimitri Voronkov today

I have 18 players signed for $173. Should have $47 in cap space
