let's stick with the original time then as I don't want to start shifting around, seems like we won't be able to accommodate everyone, sorry sutter. you can assign values for any players you want to get, it's a lot easier via auction than making a draft list

anyway i approved all the keepers, thanks to everyone for doing those EXCEPT practice. i did my best to set them for you based on your spreadsheet and whatever you posted here, I think your spreadsheet needs to be updated to include players like nemec and mintyukov being under contract now.

at this point we can add any players who need to be added to the rosters and finalize the budgets for the auction next weekend. NA can you handle that stuff? if not I can jump in at some point this week.

oh yeah, everyone needs to go into their spreadsheets and make sure they are up to date and then let us know how many players you have signed and how much cap space you should have

I’ve got 13 signed players for $114 in space, so I’ve got $106 for 12 players

I have 17 players signed for $175 over 32 years (after signing Tage for 3 years from the offersheet). I've got $45 for my last 8 roster spots.

Is it possible to put Laine and his $15 salary on the IR ahead of the draft since he'll be missing at least a couple of months?

I don't think we actually have a rule about that but it might be worth a chat/vote? I can't really recall any instances of us doing that before and search/history is gone.

If you spent to the cap you would have to make some tough decisions/trades to become cap compliant when the player does return. If we were to implement leniency around that we would need to put up some rules around it, I would want it to be applied consistently.

Players like Evander Kane (UFA), Drew Doughty and probably others would be impacted this year.

I have two players that theoretically apply: Drew Doughty (fucked ankle) and Valeri Nichushkin (six-month suspension). Both of them should come back at some point this year.

I feel like when I had Robin Lehner but he wasn't going to play all year, I didn't roster him to start. So I think there's some precedence.

My gut is the same as yours -- we can put them off to the side (where inevitably they'll be drafted by an auto-drafter and then have to be resituated), you can draft another player in their place, but you'll need to be able to add them when they return to active duty.

It definitely happened at some point but I think it was for players who were known to be out for the year / expected not to play

If we want to do this I would say we should probably do it so anyone starting the season on IR is eligible to be put on IR in advance of the draft, and therefor left off the roster, and it's going to be up to the GM to figure it out when they come back. In most cases I think it makes sense just to leave that player on your roster and draft around them and then stash and grab a leftover at the end, but maybe some people with more cap space would rather have the extra roster spot to maximize said space?

I think it gets into annoying commishing territory when we say "players who are expected to be out for x number of months are more are eligible" because what if they come back early, timelines can be very vague (ie. doughty is "month to month" - to be honest I don't know what that means)

I agree that the nature of NHL injuries makes it impossible to set a specific amount of time needed. If someone isn’t badly hurt, you’d just have to adjust your cap situation sooner anyway.

cleaned up my spreadsheet

i still need kailer yamamoto and kent johnson added to my yahoo roster

assuming my trent frederic ELC signing is legit (see other thread), i have $162 committed to 18 players, so should have $58 left for 7 spots
