Also of note: if they can't get two decent years out of Jensen that was a horrible move obv

I was looking at this list - https://www.spotrac.com/nhl/free-agents ... ract_value
if you sort by age it's all the RFAs and it would be a cool idea for a GM to retain some of their own picks every couple of years, so they can offersheet these guys. like how much could the oil afford to pay Broberg or Holloway? I would give up picks for these guys. Carolina has to sign Jarvis and Necas. I think paying some of these guys 7-8m is a better idea than paying Lindholm that

i have been trying to reply to stuff on here for the better part of a day and just get a server error :(

anyway the thing about ottawa having no plan is like, three straight years of making a "big swing" and then immediately moving on. trade for debrincat, move him next year for less. trade for chychrun, move him next year for less. sign korpisalo, trade him next year (i still don't know why boston would do this deal)

there's something to be said about not submitting to the sunk cost fallacy but what is your decisionmaking process that had you make these trades/signings in the first place

Dude, yes, those were ALL Dorion moves. There was next to no decision making I don't think. They're digging out of that hole currently. So yes, you are correct, that shit was awful.

Remains to be seen if Staios et al are going to do any better. So far:
  • Ullmark tradewas great
  • UFA signings were good (Perror maybe less so)
  • Chychrun and Joseph trades were bad and not great.
But I don't think you can hold any of them accountable for the stuff that went down before Pierre got canned. It's basically an entirely new regime.

Also, did not like their draft. I really hope they can bring in some new scouts this year.

I am afraid that the vacation will have to be cut short, this needs fixing

Encouraging re: how Ullmark will do behind Ottawa vs Boston
Many will point to the fact that Ullmark will have a tougher time playing behind the Senators than he did behind a strong Bruins team, but I wouldn’t be so sure. Ullmark and Jeremy Swayman were brilliant last season, often covering up defensive deficiencies for Boston. The Bruins ranked 23rd in high-danger chances allowed (1,010) while the Senators ranked 14th (950). Ottawa also allowed fewer expected goals last year, but was undone by subpar goaltending.

Sabres selling former top picks for pennies on the dollar

I know user captain liked McLeod but this is good value.

They know he's a sub-6' forward like Benson and Helenius and there are only so many spots for those guys in the top six

So do all of the other teams in the league
