-amazing that Skinner has never played in a playoff game, NHL record
-Holloway is our only winger under 30
-McDavid is our 3rd youngest forward

seems like the oil did well enough. I think (just my opinion) they should try to re-sign Draisatl though (imo)

based on everything that transpired for the oilers, their moves are telegraphing a few things:

-evander kane is effectively done, whether it's LTIR, trade, something else
-ryan mcleod is not seen as having a future as a centre, and may not have a long term future with this team. could be a trade chip for a 2nd pair RD.
-jackson signed 3 depth RD options to NHL contracts in stecher, carrick and brown, and walked away from desharnais, which tells me they know their right side isn't good enough and ceci is almost certainly going to be moved

I also feel a lot better about the use of a 1st round pick on Henrique given they're effectively getting 2.25 bargain years out of him with his new contract

thinking optimal line combos are something like:

Skinner - McDavid - Hyman
Holloway - Draisaitl - Arvidsson
Nugent-Hopkins - McLeod - Perry
Janmark - Henrique - Brown

gives mcdavid a great skater/finisher who can complement, gives draisaitl two guys who can transport, battle and finish, nuge slides down to make a pairing with mcleod getting soft minutes/defensive assignments. obviously there's going to be a lot of shuffling and you could argue that henrique should get more minutes and mcleod/perry fewer but that 4th line was dynamite together. the team effectively has two great third lines instead of a 4th.
