I think there's gotta be something else going on with Walman and/or the future considerations but who knows

I can imagine something'll happen in the next few days that makes this a bit less baffling, yeah

The comment about the Sharks being happily stunned that Yzerman offered a 2nd rounder and didn't ask for anything in return is concerning

I guess but these fuckin twitter "reporters". Like for two weeks I heard that Ullmark had waived his NTC to go to Ottawa but, in fact, they just weren't ON his NTC list. So it's close but also inaccurate and fairly different.

So, you know, truth etc.

Shapiro seems to be a pretty solid dude and not prone to hyperbole, but who knows

It does get me that Wings fans were like "Maybe the Sharks agreed not to take someone the Wings wanted at #14" and instead they traded up and the Sabres are more likely to take someone the Wings want

Wings supposedly in on Stamkos

I think they need one of Kane, Stamkos, or Marchessault for their top six. Somebody's gotta score goals there. Probably need another top-six guy if Perron doesn't return. Right now...

DeBrincat / Larkin / Raymond
Mazur / Compher / Stamkos
Rasmussen / Copp / Kasper
Fabbri / Veleno / Berggren
Fischer

Wings are supposedly in on Trouba, which would be a... choice
We are told the Rangers may retain $2.5 million per year on the two remaining seasons of Trouba’s $8M annual cap charge. That represents 31.25 percent retention that would also be applied to the $12M in salary Trouba has coming over the next two seasons.
He wasn't good last year! Maybe bring back a Michigan Boy who is playing well (Matt Roy). I'm pretty sure Trouba will cost a second rounder or a prospect if there's retention.

Right now it's

Chiarot / Seider
Edvinsson / Petry
Maatta / Holl
Johansson

which isn't good, but swapping Trouba for Petry and moving Holl out doesn't make it much better. I'd rather spend 6 mil on Roy, put him with Edvinsson, and tell the Sharks to claim Holl on waivers.

Some Twitter guy proposed Trouba + Kakko for Holl (subsequently bought out) and Veleno, with some picks in the mix. That seems too good to be true so it probably isn't.

His occasional violent brain farts aside, I like Joe Veleno, but he's a 4th line center and Kakko has far more upside.

Glad it’s only one year, mostly a question of the playoff bonus

So far Yzerman’s only done one move and it’s been good, waiting for Trouba or some other dumb thing to drop

Ghost, Fischer, and Sprong all out there. Sounds like Ghost is testing the market. I’d be happy with Fischer for another year. Sprong doesn’t seem worth it vs. Berggren.

Presumably:

DeBrincat / Larkin / Kane
Raymond / Compher / Tarasenko
Fischer / Copp / Rasmussen
Mazur / Veleno / Berggren
Motte

There’s still a path for Mazur or Kasper. Not sure if I forgot a depth forward signing.

Fabbri and a conditional fourth traded to Anaheim

I liked him, but spending that money on a guy who can’t stay healthy and is ideally a third liner when he is… not ideal

As of right now

Chiarot / Seider
Edvinsson / Petry
Gustafsson/ Maatta

Holl / Johannsson / Lagesson

I think it mostly depends on how good Edvinsson can be and whether he can take some of Seider’s workload
